ITALY RECORDS SECOND WIN

Italy recorded a second consecutive win to stay on top of the table in the Euro 2012 qualifiers. This is the Italy that won in Tallinn, after being down 1-0, and that this evening repeated by winning against the Far Oer Islands 5-0, an opponent that was not very consistent and unable to come close to scoring.

Three goals in the first half by Gilardino, De Rossi and Cassano, two in the second half by Quagliarella and Pirlo and Italy finds itself leading the standings while Serbia and Slovenia tied 1-1.

A test for the future of the team that in ninety minutes will allow the coach to evaluate those players who because of their age and qualities might represent the continuity of this team.

In fact, the match, that theoretically was supposed to be easier than the first one, was even more easy on the field with the Azzurri cheered on by the fans going ahead on 11' on an inactive ball: corner kick by Pirlo, Gilardino heads the ball into the net behind the shoulders of Nelsen and finally scores after eleven months of fasting.

Italy is fast, with Cassano the real leader on the field, present in all offensive plays. On 20', the goalkeeper saves on a shot by Rossi, one minute later the National team coached by Prandelli doubles the score with a right-footed shot by De Rossi (slight deviation by Gregarsen) after a play that started from Cassano and continued with an assist by Antonelli.

And six minutes later, on 27', the stadium applauds Cassano who scores a masterpiece with his right-foot. Italy plays with serenity and sets the pace of the match. The players have a good feeling among themselves and even the newcomers seem to play as if they were veterans.

The same lineup in the second half until 13' when Prandelli sends in Quagliarella for Rossi and Pazzini in for Gilardino. The match slows down and on 30' Palombo in for De Rossi.
